There is not much time for updates, but here is a short one. Spring is properly here, even if some mornings are still frosty. No more ice and snow. The daffodils are flowering, and the sun feels warm. In the evenings, a woodcock flies around the plot, calling. Lovely!
We are working on the greenhouse walls and piers, with the house slab next. We worked on our own through the winter, but now need a push to get ready for the greenhouse delivery. Steen at Drivadan has been patient with our changing dates. 🙂
Thor-Björn of Björket Entreprenad is busy reinforcing, pouring and backfilling, and will hopefully tackle the slab soon. The greenhouse wall is enormous and needs to be very strong. There are two kilometres of 12 mm reinforcement alone, plus plenty of 16 mm and 10 mm steel. Building forms and tying reinforcement on uneven ground takes time. Hopefully, we can pour some concrete soon.
Help is hard to find: everyone seems to be building at once. If you know someone available, or are available yourself, contact Thor-Björn! I will be joining in next week, so highly specialised skills are clearly not essential. 🙂
Leif Tjälldén AB has supplied the foundation materials and reinforcement. Questions and deliveries are easily handled by email, and the price is good because they manufacture the elements. The foundation package includes Thermotech underfloor heating through Tjälldén.
I have also ordered plenty of pipes and fittings from Rinkaby Rör. We will find out what I forgot when it is time to assemble them.
Woody in Åkersberga is supplying the blocks and formwork timber.
Now we are off for a short trip to Brighton!
