Bengt Warne built the first nature house himself in the mid-1970s.

Several houses were built in Hamburg during the 1980s.

In 2004, Ecorelief in Vänersborg and the nature house on Ingarö built their houses. At around the same time, Lene and Morten built their nature house in Barkholt, Denmark.

The nature house in northern Norway, just south of Bodø, was completed in 2014.

Bodil has built a nature-house café and conference centre in Uppgränna, with a remarkable view over Lake Vättern.
