  • Second winter

Winter… dark and cold, long time since last update. Now we are on our second winter of construction. I’ve had several long colds with a bad cough that stopped a lot of work during November and December. Now in January I have finally been able to get things going again. Sadly I missed warmer weather…

  • November

Time flies! It’s already November 20. Winter is close, below 0 today and dark outside at 4 in the afternoon. We’re trying to finish things that can’t be done in the winter. Mortar does not like freezing temperatures. Finished the leca blocks for the smaller “water” house at least. It will house water techie stuff…

  • Autumn

Autumn has arrived, time for an update. Crisp autumn days have replaced the summer, some frost has even turned up. Nice and warm in the greenhouse, today over 25 degrees. The roof of the garage is almost finished, now we need the panelling to continue. We’ve done some colour tests for the panelling on the…

  • Second floor

Some quick pictures of the status so far. Working on the second floor now and made some good progress today. At some places there are less than 8 logs to go. A few more logs in the garage then we get to open the last pack of logs. Another excellent day to have the greenhouse,…

  • First floor

Switching to English for our international visitors… Short recap of the project: Green house with a log house inside. Eden project in small scale. Positive sides are environmentally friendly, recycling of waste water, less energy consumption, home grown veggies, large living space as soon as the temperature is ok, cool house. Negatives: Risk of too…

  • Over 30 degrees

An update from the heat. Kim and Andy from Drivadan finished the greenhouse today. Thank you for a great job! They worked hard despite temperatures approaching 35ยฐC inside. The humidity reading said 100%, if it can be trusted. I have been sweating buckets, but they kept going.

  • Building the garage

Drivadan assembled much of the greenhouse in about a week. Unfortunately, Kim was bruised by falling glass panes, and they had to stop and go home. They return this week to finish. For now, with one gable still missing, we have a huge amphitheatre and an amazing view.

  • The buildings are growing

A few progress photographs. The greenhouse is rising, and the garage is growing slowly: six courses so far. Mum helped this evening.

  • Assembly!

A quick update from the site. It is happening! After plenty of trouble with the crane yesterday, Drivadan has begun assembling the greenhouse. It is going to be huge. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Time for assembly!

Time for an update! All the concrete needed at this stage is finally poured. The piers and slab are finished, and the formwork has been removed.
